Silly Kids

Here are a couple photos over the past couple days. I hadn't planned on posting them but why not.  These are of the kids being funny.  Romie disappears on us and this is where we find her.  She pulls about 20 books off the shelf and "reads" them to herself.  I can't really get mad at her for making such a mess but it does get old picking up the book mess daily. I found her looking a German workbook the other day matching word stickers with their match. She was actually doing it correctly. I really should sign her up for a book club!Sully has learned to put his feet up on the little gator toy so that his sisters can push him around.  He sits down, feet go up, and he yells for one of them for a push. Smart little booger. We took the girls to see Cars 2 the other afternoon and Addie insisted on wearing her new Cars shirt.  She really liked the movie and said she can't wait until the third one comes out.  I think the last of the photos I am putting on this post are of Addie and Romie  putting rubber gloves in their feet and acting like ducks.  Devin was cleaning a drain in the bathroom and Addie found the gloves and for some reason realized if she put them on her feet they would look like duck feet.  Clever!  Don't worry these gloves had never been used.  Romie and Addie had a great time playing ducks with their other animals.  Funny how little things like that can be so entertaining but yet we have a house full of toys.

Splash!

The kids got a nice treat on Wednesday evening.  I was hooking up their sprinkler ball when the neighbor popped over and asked if they would like to come swim in their new pool.  At first I thought it might be a bad idea because I will now be asked daily by Addie if she can go swim next door but it was a nice treat so why not.  Addie was in the water in a spilt second splashing and having a great time.  She also has a new "twistie jump" she has perfected.  Sully was happy in his float even though he would have rather been out of it playing with Addie. He doesn't quite understand he can't do that.  Romie played on the steps of the pool and on the lounge chairs around the pool.  Romie is still very nervous about the water after her little jumping in incident last summer in Siesta Key.  She did get down to the third step yesterday so she is getting a bit more brave.  Devin enjoyed the pool the most I think.  He was not complaining that was for sure.  I sat on the side playing life guard and enjoyed watching them play.  That was a nice little treat to our week.  Today we are off to check out some old cemeteries where the Benz family resides and eat at a The Sherman House.  Should be a fun little day trip.  I am sure I will have some photos to post in the near future.

Father's Day

I think that Devin had a pretty good Father's Day this year.  He got to sleep in which is always a bonus and we made him french toast with cinnamon bread for breakfast.  The kids got him a new cordless power screwdriver and nice dark chocolate bars.  Romie had made him a magnet with their picture in at school and Addie drew him picture of all of her bears.  The day was pretty laid back.  We hung out around the house all morning and then went to Shelbyville later in the afternoon for a cookout.  I feel really bad because I had both cameras with me in Shelbyville but did not get one out for any pictures. That was pure laziness on my part.  Here are some photos of Devin and his kiddos.

New Photos

Here are some random pictures of the kids that I took. Sully's are of him just hanging out and wearing his new pirate hat from Mamaw and Papaw.  Romie is wearing her favorite pink dress that Mamaw repaired. She wore the dress for two days straight after we got it back from Mamaw. Romie doesn't have a security blanket but I would say the dress is a security dress. I am not sure what we will do when she grows out of it. I should have bought it in bigger sizes for the future. Addie's photos are of her in her soccer camp gear. She had a great time and wants to do it again next year. Her Fall soccer season starts in August and she is already excited for it.

Painted Faces

We took the kids to the zoo the other day and let them get their faces painted.  We usually don't do this but today we had no reason not to and the girls have been dying to have it done.  I was not surprised by the choice that Romie made with the princess tiara. Addie, on the the other hand, picked a butterfly. They had sharks, dolphins, and tigers which we figured is what she would go for but she didn't. I assumed that there were so many to choose from she just picked the first one she saw.  It is really hard for her to make a decision on anything so this was tough.  They both looked cute and at the end of the night were happy to take it off. Nobody had a reaction to the paint which was another good thing.   Yea! for a positive face painting experience.

We're Back!

After just a short break we are back.  We found a good deal on an HP laptop which will get the job done.  This one is not as nice as the last couple Toshibas that we had but it should do what we need and I am just happy to have one.  We have spent a lot of money on laptops in the past but they have not seemed to last. Two laptops in 6 years is pretty bad statistics. So we are trying a lower priced HP to see what happens.  Wish us luck.

Right before our laptop died we got a new Canon T3i camera. I have been dying to get a few of the pictures I have taken over the past couple of weeks on here.  Nothing fancy as I have not been able to really sit down and learn how to use the thing. That is in the plans along with eventually getting some nice photoshop software.  The software that came with the camera is a little over my head at this point but hopefully I will learn to use it soon.

Another Blogging Road Block

Well I am once again at a blogging standstill for maybe the next couple of weeks.  Our beloved laptop has gone to laptop heaven and we are trying to figure out what we are doing next. I have been on my mom's computer for the past few hours looking up information and prices on various brands and models. I think that I might be bald by the time I make a decision due to pulling my hair out. Ahhh!  I can't believe all the types there are out there and I hardly understand what any of it means.  Good thing for customer reviews.  Off to search some more.  Wish me luck. When I post again I will be on the new laptop, hopefully.

They're Back!

The puppies are back for a short stay this week and Addie is super excited.  She takes her puppy sitting very seriously. Romie and Sully only care when they feel like it. I actually think that Ed is kind of happy to have his new little buddies over for a visit. We have already gone on a couple walks and have been spending a lot of time with them running out in the yard.  This has only been day one and they are already exhausted.  Might actually turn out to be a bit of puppy boot camp.

Shoes

Addie and Romie were playing the other day and wanted to go outside.  Addie had shoes on and told me that she was waiting on Romie to get some shoes for herself. A few seconds later I hear clomp, clomp, clomp down the hallway.  Romie rounds the corner with a pair of my old dress shoes on.  Really, Romie?  I only own one pair of shoes that has any kind of heel on it and she is obsessed with them.  I told Devin that I am going to have to go out and buy some high heels so that she can play with them.  I kind of feel like a failure in the "dressing up in Mommy's shoes" department.  At least she thinks they are cool.  I am not even sure that I would ever wear them again.  What she doesn't know won't hurt her.  I am sure she will be catching onto what is cool or not soon enough.  I guess what is even funnier about this is that just a short time later Sully wanted to go out and play too.  I told him to go get me his shoes and guess what pair he chose.......

Random Thoughts with Romie

This morning the girls and I were talking about bugs and Romie told us something that we were not aware of.  I guess this isn't as random as most comments since the conversation topic was about bugs but it was more the way she said it and walked away that made it so random.  She either really believes her story or she thinks that she is so clever she has tricked us.  With Romie you never can tell.

Romie: Once when I was a bug I was nice.  I was a ladybug.

That concludes our Random Thoughts with Romie

Saturday Morning Bike Ride

Saturday morning was the first morning in a few days that wasn't 85 degrees by 9 and 100% humidity so we took advantage of it.  We started it off by driving to Shelbyville to water plants for Mamaw and Papaw since they are on vacation. While in Shelbyville we had to stop for Linnes for donuts. That was mandatory!  After we returned home and stuffed ourselves with donuts, we took a nice walk through the neighborhood.  Addie is a pro on her bike with training wheels but we are battling with Romie to rider her "big girl" bike.  She prefers the 3 wheel model. Cousin Macey passed down a Dora two wheeler and we are trying our best to get Romie used to it.  She is slowly getting the hang of it.  By the end of the summer I hope to have Addie on a true two wheeler with no training wheels.  She is just a little lazy and prefers for the bike not to fall when taking turns.  You can't blame her I guess.  I love watching the girls wear their bike helmets.  I am so thankful I did not have to look like that as a child. Safety is good but they look so goofy.  I feel like they even get a little top heavy when wearing them.  They seem to want to walk sideways. The girls don't mind because all the kids are wearing them and they really don't know any better.  Sully just sits back and enjoys being pushed around. No worries for him.  Wouldn't that be nice.  On top looking goofy in their helmets Mommy took pictures in the sun which makes for some pretty squinty pictures.

Little Princess Buddy

Well it finally happened! Sully has had a makeover by his older sister and this time it went further than a sparkly headband.  Sully became Snow White for a minute and when I say minute I mean minute.  Let's just say that Devin didn't think it was as funny as the kids and I did.  After I got a couple pictures Daddy made him take it off.  Not fair.  Everyone needs a little sparkle now and then.

Yummm! Nutella!

Okay so this is the second posting of a child of mine having food all over their face but I just had to share.  It may not really be that funny or cute to see food all over her face now but at the time it was.  Romie was supposed to  be eating crackers and Nutella for a snack but instead the crackers went to Ed and the Nutella went half into Romie and half on her face.  Addie yelled to me "Mom, Romie is doing something that she is not supposed to!" She was a crazed child trying to get every last drop out of her little bowl.  I kind of compare her eating her Nutella treat to a dog eating a peanut butter treat.  What a goof!

Yummm! Donuts!

Sully has discovered powdered donuts.

Bad Hair Day

We still aren't complaining about the heat wave we are having but Romie's hair sure could use a break.  The poor thing wakes up every morning looking like she has been through a wind storm.  Here are some pictures of Romie's hair the other morning when she woke up.  I don't even think the pictures give an accurate view of what a mess it really is but it sure is close.
