Soccer Star

Addie is becoming quite the little soccer star these days.  We really enjoy watching her get out there and play her hardest.  She had her first game of the season last Friday and scored two goals.  Her team this time around are the Blue Angels.  She has an excellent coach this time and seems to be learning a lot about the game.  Stayed tuned for more Blue Angel pictures to come in the next few weeks. For now this is game 1. Included with these game pictures are a few pictures of her fan club.

Hard Hat Area

Our family room without carpet. Looks better without carpet than with the carpet that was there in it.  I love my new carpet.
Last week we had some carpenters, painters, and carpet layers in to fix a few things.  We got a new set of French doors on the back of the house, the front closet and garage had some dry wall damage fixed, and we have new carpet in the family room.  Here are a couple pictures from last week.  The biggest highlight for the kids was the big hole in the house when they removed the old door, Devin's highlight was his newly painted garage, and mine was the nice new carpet and having strangers out of my house when it was all finished.  Now we have more painting to complete starting in a couple weeks and I am sure will last through out the fall.  By winter I am hoping that some of our projects on our lists will be crossed out.  Then on to new lists I am sure.  Devin has his eye on getting the room above the garage finished for Sully and the rest of the basement drywalled that was not finished. Oh boy here we go.

Happy Happy Nappers

The last big craze around this house was the Pillow Pets and now we are crazy about Happy Nappers.  So as a treat for starting back to school we got them all one each. Sunday night before bed they got their Nappers and life around here hasn't been the same.  Thankfully Walgreen's had them so we didn't have to pay the ridiculous shipping costs.  The only downside was that Romie had to get the penguin instead of the unicorn but really she had no complaints.  Addie got a ladybug and Sully has a dragon.  It is funny watching him play with his because he believes he is part of the big kid club now.

Speaking of big kids...I included a few pictures I took of them today.  I was looking at the pictures on the computer and realized that my babies are getting so big.  All three of them look so grown up in these photos.  Now the question is if they are looking so old what am I???

Kindergarten Update

Addie had a great morning this morning and has not stopped smiling since we picked her up.  When we got to the school to pick her up her class came out and Addie was beaming with pride.  When she got in the van she said and I quote "that was awesome, I love school and my teacher is so cool!"  She then when on to tell us where she keeps all her school supplies and she even has a special place to keep her backpack. I hope she has this attitude about school for years to come.  I am so proud of her and her new big girl adventures.  Even Romie noticed a different Addie. Romie said to me on the way to get Addie this morning "Mom I think that Addie is all growed up now".  I think she is getting there.  So cute.

We Did It!!!!

Daddy, Sully, and Ed were up to wave goodbye this morning. Romie decided she was going to sleep in.

At the school. She was really excited to see the buses and the "awesome" playground.
We had a great morning this morning for the first day of Kindergarten.  I woke Addie up around 6:45 and she looked at me and asked if I was tricking her because it was still dark.  Unfortunately it will only get darker so she better get used to it.  She got up without any fight and had breakfast, got dressed, and had some pictures before we were out the door.  We got there and I expected to just drop her off but other parents parked in the drop off area causing all the other parents to have to park and take their children in.  I am so happy that I changed out of my pajamas others weren't so lucky.  I was told it will be better once the newness wears off.  Addie did say while we were waiting she was nervous and her belly hurt a little but said she thought it would go away.  I am so proud of her for being such a big girl.  She is going to love school this year.  Stay tuned for many more pictures of Addie's Kindergarten adventures I am sure. The best part of the morning was that no tears were shed by Addie, Liz, or Devin!!  Well we did leave Devin behind when I dropped her off so who knows if he shed a tear he would never tell.

Tomorrow is the Big Day!

Addie will be going off to Kindergarten in the morning and she is so excited she cannot stand it!  Tonight as I was putting her to bed she said she can't believe she is going to big kid school and not baby school (preschool) like Romie.   I am so happy to have her so excited and not worrying like I do about everything.  I am hoping that with all her excitement I will have dry eyes and a big smile as I drop her off.   My next post will be first day of school pictures and a report of how we all handled it.

Brain Saver Saturday

So I haven't cleaned house like planned or started the baking that I have been wanting to do but I do feel a bit of accomplishment today.  I have been struggling with the whole school situation for Addie the past few days but I decided today that we are sticking with Weston and giving it a chance. After the frustrating experience at parent night last Thursday I have decided that it shouldn't make or break our decision.  Even if we were to send her to the other school I would be questioning if that was the best decision for Addie so it made no sense to me to change even though I am frustrated.  I feel much better for making this decision and I am really excited for her to start.  I really think we are doing what is best for Addie.  So for that I feel pretty good.  The other thing I have accomplished today is I have ordered birthday party supplies for both girls.  I know we have September and October birthdays around here and it is early August but having that done makes a world of difference and something I don't have to stress about when their birthdays come around.  It will be birthday time before we know it.  Romie will be having a horse themed party and Addie will be going with The Smurfs.  Romie was set on a horse theme from the get go and Addie had a few she was thinking of but the Smurfs were her favorite.  So now I must move onto the things that I should have been doing in the first place.  Dishes and laundry are screaming my name. Hopefully with these decisions made my bran might work a little more smoothly.

Visit to the Zoo

We went to the zoo on Friday with Mamaw and Papaw to get a look at the new baby elephant.  I didn't tell the kids we were going until the night before because I knew they would be so excited and they wouldn't stop talking about it until we got there.  They were not disappointed in the least when they caught a peak of the new baby.  Addie kept saying how adorable she was and Romie said WOW.  The baby was so much smaller than what we thought.  She was just adorable.  Seeing the elephant wasn't the only fun thing that we did on our trip.  Addie of course raced a cheetah, we took a train ride, and rode the carousel.  It was a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed spending the day with Mamaw and Papaw.
