Our Little Runaway

Today was a first for us.  Addie should have had a great day today but it all started with the late night before.  We let Addie stay up later than normal to watch Tron 3D with Devin since she has been dying to watch it and it is about to be removed from the cable movie list.  We should have known it might make for a rough day when we had to pry her out of bed this morning for school.  So fast forward to this afternoon.  We went to McDonald's for lunch after school which was also a request of Addie's and I was feeling nice because it was a beautiful 70 degree day on February 29th.  After returning home she wanted to have Emma come over to play which I agreed was a great idea.  They played from 1 to 4:30 nonstop.  When it was time to walk Emma home Addie began to get grumpy because she wanted to continue playing but it was time to start dinner and Devin was going to take them for a walk.  Addie repeatedly ignored us and upon returning home she was told to go to her room.  Devin then took the two little ones for a walk.  Addie at this point was infuriated with us because she didn't get her way and now Devin went on a walk without her.  As I was preparing dinner she came downstairs with her bags packed and she asked if I would like her to runaway.  I answered her with no but if it would make her happy she could.  She decided that she was going to hit the road.  She had her bag packed, a blanket, pillow pet, and a rain coat.  Romie clued into what was going on and immediately began to melt down.  Addie then began to cry and assured us that she would remember us always.  She then turned to Romie and said she would come back for her someday.  Poor Romie went into the closet to grab a coat and shoes because she didn't want her sister to be by herself.  It broke my heart to see how heartbroken Romie was but I continued playing Addie's little dramatic game.  After we said our goodbyes she set off down the steps onto the sidewalk.  I noticed that she was headed in the direction of the Capen's so I yelled out to her that she was not allowed to go there because Stephanie would send her on her way.  She stopped in her tracks and thought about it for awhile.  She then started crying and walked back to the front door.  I would like to think that she was sad that she had almost runaway from home but it was clear that the tears were from her committing to the running away and then having to come back because it just wasn't going to work out. She brought her stubborn self back in the house and was attacked by her distraught sister that wasn't going to let her out of her sight.  Romie was so emotionally drained  that she almost fell over asleep at the dinner table.  Addison has apologized to everyone for her antics but I will for sure not forget this episode.  Tonight bedtime was 7:30 and she is sleeping in her own bed without Mommy.  I figure if she is willing to head out on her own she can surely sleep in her own bed.  If this is what it is like with Addie at age 6 and I terrified for what the teen years will bring.

Romie's Field Trip

Romie had a field trip yesterday to the Hancock Wellness Center.  The kids participated in Zumba and Yoga classes.  Romie loved the the Zumba class!  She came home with some new moves to show everyone.

Singing their morning songs before exercising.

Mrs. Succaw even let Sully sing along with him. You can tell by his face how happy that made him.

 Walking it out.

Waving their arms.

Getting low! Romie is behind the little girl with the black pants on.  She liked the getting low part the best.

Dress up?

The girls love to dress up and they are always finding something new to put on.  The newest was a first for them.  Addie and her bear came downstairs with tights over their heads and Addie said they were robbing the jewels.  I have no ideas where that came from or how she knew to put stockings over her head to become a robber.  It was very hard for me to keep a straight face.  The funniest part was when she went to eat she just rolled the tights up onto her forehead for both her and her bear.  It was amazing how well she worked wth the tights. I guess I should make sure that she doesn't have random jewels around the house    If she plays this character again I might suggest a more shear tight than the sweater tight she chose.  Silly kid.

Romie rarely has a explanation for what she puts together.  She just likes to mix and match her outfits and then pose for the camera like it is her job.  Work it Romie.

Robbing the jewels

Taking a break from robbing to have a bite to eat.

Silly Sully

Here are some pictures that I forgot I had taken from the past couple of weeks. The first few are of Sully pretending to be a puppy.  When the puppies come for a visit we get a little water dish out and place it in the corner in the kitchen.  The other day Sully decided to get himself a bowl, fill it with water, and placed it in the corner for himself.  First her tried to drink like the pupies do and that didn't work as he thought.  He then got a spoon and that didn't work either. Finally he got a straw that did the job.  I loved watching him try to figure this all out on his own and then beam with pride as he solved his problem. That childs wheels are in constant motion much like his sisters.  Just yesterday he got up on the back of the couch and slide down the back side without falling.  he was so proud of himself. I have a feeling we are starting the phase of the daredevil.  I guess I should have the bandaids and ice packs ready!

The last picture is also a common thing around here for Sully.  He is starting to refuse an afternoon nap.  Instead he will play like a maniac and then fall over where ever he stops for a quick nap.  Whatever works I suppose.

Winter Blues

We have noticed a lot of hawks hanging around the back yard this winter.  The other day Addie came running into the house asking me to take a picture of one up in the trees.  These are the photos I got.  It is so intersting seeing how gray and "wintery" the pictures look because I never noticed when I took the pictures.  Now I see why we are all in need of a sunny vacation these seem a little depressing.

Sully's Room

Devin and I decided Saturday morning that we were going to finally paint Sully's room. We puchased the shark decor last year and finally made time to finish his room and are pleased with the outcome.  The only update left upstairs is paint the bathroom and hang some pictures in the playroom which will be completed some rainy day in 2012.  Not bad for being here for just over 2 years.

Hair!

Romie woke up the day after Valentine's looking a little frazzled.  Her hair was crazy!  She kept saying what the heck happened to my hair!  Wetting it down was a must and then we tried to tame it into a ponytail.  Wow!

Our Family Valentine's Day

It is a tradition that we all get together for Valentine's to share an Italian feast and have a good time.  This year we went to the Parkers again.  Everything started out as normal and we all had our fair share of pasta when the lights went out!  After a few minutes we realized the whole town of Pendleton was without power and it looked like it might be awhile.  Instead of everyone packing up and leaving we decided to get candles and flashlights out and continue on with our night.  The kids loved all of it except for a small panic attack had by Romie.  It was nice sitting around talking with everyone and enjoying each others company. It was a Valentines to remember.  Here are some photos that I took but you can not tell we were in the dark due to the flash.

Romie's Party

I let her wear her pink dress to school.  She couldn't stop smiling!

Jump!

Playing more games.

Snack with friends. Even Addie was included.

Happy girl!
Romie had her Valentine's party on Monday this year.  I wasn't able to help for the whole party but Addie, Sully, and I got there for most of it.  Taking Sully with us was challenging and made me realize why they don't like when the little siblings come along.  Addie helped out and Romie ignored her little brother making such a fuss.  Romie played games and had a cookies and strawberries for a treat.  I was shocked at how much stuff she brought home.  She will be on a Valentine's high for the next couple of weeks.

I don't have any pictures of Addie's party this year.  I was able to go with her to school in the morning and stay the entire time thanks to Papaw for watching the little ones.  I was exhausted after the party!  The teacher did a great job of having actual school lessons and a Valentine' celebration at the same time.  It is fun seeing the difference from the preschool to Kindergarten.  I was so busy that I didn't have time to get my camera out but if I did Addie might of killed me .  Mom!  Kindergarten is big time.

Cake Pops!!

Over a two day period I made over 150 cake pops for Valentine's Day.  I had so much fun making them.  Now I think I might start thinking about St. Patty's Day cake pops.  Here are the type of pops I made this time around.

Their Sunday Best

I love when the kids surface from their play areas dressed up.  Today they came down looking very elegant. Poor Sully doesn't have many dress up things of his own so whatever his sisters throw on him works.  He felt very pretty you can tell.  I couldn't get Romie to just stand still due the all the posing she was doing.  I love Sundays like this when there is minimal screaming and a lot children laughing.  Now I am sure that I will be singing a different tune when Monday comes around but for now I will enjoy it.

Weston Skate Party

Addie was really excited about a skate party that Weston hosted last Saturday so I decided to take her.  Since there weren't too many kids there she knew I skated along with her.  I tried to get her out on the rink first without me but after many tumbles she needed my assistance.  After a few laps with me and a couple skating games she got the hang of it.  I can't believe that she isn't black and blue from all the falls and she hasn't mentioned being sore.  My arm, on the other hand, is pretty sore from holding her up and trying not to fall myself.  Addie asked me what my favorite part was and answered it was when we held hands and skated.  In return I asked the same question and she responded when she skated all by herself.  Well all right then.  What a great memory for the both of us.

Super Bowl XLVI

One of my favorite stops.  Yummy!

Can't come to Indy without seeing an Indy car.

ESPN

What an experience!

He scores!

A little to the left! He pulled a Cundiff.

A for effort.

Gronk!

Cheers! A beer in Super Bowl Village.

The crowds! This was before we became part of the human gridlock!
On Friday Devin and I headed downtown with Colby and my dad to experience the Super Bowl festivities.  It was awesome.  We started with checking out the circle and then headed down to the Super Bowl Village.  On the way we stopped off at St Elmos for a little shrimp cocktail.  I have never seen Indy like this.  The atmosphere was amazing.  Making our way through the village we saw the zip line and where ESPN was reporting from in the Pan Am Plaza.  Dad left us for a few minutes to go to a reception and we went into the NFL Experience.  We stood in line for the Extra Point Kick and the Kick, Punt, Pass.  Each line was about an hour long but it was well worth it for the memory and a laugh.  Next time we will spend more time in the Experience we had no idea what to expect.  After our attempts at being scouted by NFL teams were uneventful we met back up with Dad outside where thousands of people filled the streets.  It was a mess trying to get back out to Mass Ave where we parked.  The weather was amazing this week and there is no way Indy expected the crowds they received.  The only bummer is as far as celebrity spottings I totally failed unless you count Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel and Mike Smith the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.  I give Indy an A+ for hosting this Super Bowl and can't wait until it is our turn to do it again.
