January

So one of my big New Year's resolutions was to keep up on my blog so that I wouldn't get too far behind.  Looking back at past resolutions I have not done the best at keeping them so why should this year be any different.  It is February 1st and I have not posted anything for the whole month of January.  So here it goes.  Here is our month of January in one big posting.

January started out very snowy.  We enjoyed the snow for a day or so but we were happy to see it go.  The girls can tolerate the cold snow better than Sullivan.  He would rather sit inside the warm house and watch the snow from the windows.  Devin helped the girls make a giant snowman and I helped them make a much smaller one.

Just days after all this snow we were blessed with beautiful weather.  We really enjoyed the warmer temperatures.  It was so nice to be outside with no jackets and riding bikes in January.

Even though the weather was nice I was still a little under the weather.  This is what it is like when mom is under the weather.  I become a magnet to my children.  I guess lots of love is the best medicine.
The red eyes have nothing to do with being under the weather. Just a bad picture that wouldn't correct. Ha!
I have been crocheting the kids some scarves this winter.  This is Addie's scarf that she wanted me to make.  Addie picked green yarn, Romie has pink, and Sully has blue.  I have to say I did a pretty good job for teaching myself.

The little ones have been such troopers when we pick up Addie after school.  We are usually waiting about 15 to 20 minutes for her to get in the car so they watch movies or listen to stories on CD.  On this day Romie chose some princess stories and Sully wasn't impressed so he took a nap.  I found this picture pretty funny.

Addie is playing basketball again but this time is a little more special because Devin is her coach.  They are apart of the Upward Basketball League through Park Chapel.  Their team is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  I am so proud of Addie and Devin for doing this together.  It is such a great experience for both of them.

Flipping through the TV on a Friday night the girls and I ran across an old episode of COPS that Uncle Trent was apart of.  The girls thought it was awesome.  Romie said "Uncle Trent looks different.  Did he get a haircut?'  A haircut and about 15 years of aging.  Ha!

Easy Bake Time!!!  Everyone likes to be apart of Easy Baking.  Addie likes to bake, Romie likes to "clean up", and Sully likes the baked goods.

The girls got haircuts the other day and Lisa asked them how they wanted to style their hair.  Addie wanted curly hair and Romie wanted straight hair.  Too cute.  Of course, Sully had to be in the picture.

We went to the Wellness Center for a family swim night.  It was such a nice escape from the cold weather we are having.  The water was very warm and we were practically the only family there.  We will be doing this more often.

I have had a pinched nerve and muscle tension in my neck for the past week so I have been using a ThermaCare heat pack to help with the discomfort.  Romie wanted one also because she too had neck pain so she went looking for one.  She came across what she thought was a heat pack but in fact it was an extra large pad that I had from when I had Sully.  She unwrapped it and put it around her neck. I went along with it so that she would stop asking for one of mine.  As she was walking around with it on her neck she asked "Mom is this going to burn me because it is starting to get really warm."  It was extremely hard to keep a straight face but I assured her that it would not harm her.  She decided she needed it on her neck as she slept that night.  So I wasn't truthful with my child but the pad did the job and when she woke up the next morning she had no neck pain.  It was a miracle.

Sully can be so cute when he is sleeping.  Being three wears him out and exhausts me!  I love this picture of him snuggling with his Woody doll.

On a sad note in the Bennett house, we lost a fish the other day.  Romie's fish Bubbles had to be flushed away to the ocean.  Romie was fine with it and really didn't seem to care.  Addie, on the other hand, cried and cried.  She drew this picture for the fish and it is placed above our little fish tank.  RIP Bubbles.

Finally, this is the last of my January post.  We have had a lot of wildlife hanging out in our backyard this winter.  Rabbits, squirrels, and plenty of birds.  Here are a couple of bird pictures that I took right off of our deck and from the back door. The first is of some really pretty birds that were hanging out on the deck and fence.  Not sure what kind they were but they were a joy to watch.  The second bird is a nasty black bird that was hanging out in the backyard all day.  He landed on the roof outside the back door.  Very creepy.  Not as much of a joy to watch but interesting.
