Addie's Rainy Game

Here are some pictures from Addie's rainy game she had last season.  The game started with no rain and we were hoping it would hold off until we were done.  Unfortunately, it came with full force.  It was actually fun to be out in the rain and all the kids enjoyed it.  Who doesn't like to play in the rain every once in a while.  Romie was playing with my phone, of course, when the rain came.  I asked her to snap a few pictures for me.  This is what she got.  Some of my favorite pictures ever.

Her self portrait.  I died laughing when I saw this.  Goofy kid!

Soccer

We had a very interesting Spring soccer season this year.  Usually we have one practice and one game a week but this year we tripled that.  All three kids wanted to play this season and all three had different schedules.  Even though it was a bit hectic we enjoyed it.  Addie and Romie played hard and gave it their best every game but Sully was a different story.  Even though Devin was his coach it was very difficult to get him to play.  Sully was all talk but no show.  Devin also helped coach Addie's and it was a great experience for both of them.  I loved living up to my soccer mom title!  I was also given a motto by my wonderful husband.  He said I was "Liz Strong"  Haha!  I am glad he noticed.

Devin and his assistant coach.

Not really wanting to get in the middle of the action.

Watching Sully made us all a little crazy.

Crazy spectator.

Warming up that hot kicking leg or dancing.

Get in there Romie!  So proud!

PUPPIES!!!!!

In April we welcomed our newest family member!  Latte came home with us and everyone fell in love with her instantly! Even Devin!  Latte is a spaniel/retriever mix.  She already had the name Latte and the kids thought she should keep it.  The second place name was Maevis but Latte won out.  Addie also put up a large fight for Layla but was out voted from the start.

Just two weeks later we added two more to the Bennett family.  Scout and Fuzz are boxer puppies from the same litter.  We originally went for one but somehow ended up with two.  I am not sure we were necessarily thinking in our right minds when we made that decision but happy to have the sisters.  Fuzz or Fuzzy already had her name like Latte.  Devin and the kids really liked that name so it stuck.  I am the one who came up with Scout.  I have always liked that name and think that her personality suits it.  Scout it is.

The three puppies are like the three musketeers and are all individually unique.  Scout is the bully just because she is the biggest, Fuzz is the sweetie and likes to love on you, and Latte is the boss and trouble maker of the group.  Her sweet looks are very deceiving.  There a have been a few moments when we have said 'that's it the puppies are out of here' but all together we love them and they make us very happy.  Nothing like the love of a dog.

Basketball Practice

The day after we returned from vacation Devin and I went downtown to watch a little March madness basketball practice.  Unfortunately, IU and Butler were not there but we were able to watch Michigan State, Duke, and this year's champions the Louisville Cardinals.  After practice Devin and I walked over to Harry and Izzy's for a early dinner for two.  It was a great date day for us.

Easter

Easter fell on our last weekend of Spring Break this year.  Addie came down with a stomach virus but was all better in time for church and the Easter Bunny.  This year we went to our Saturday service with my parents and had a nice dinner after.  Romie was not feeling well that day and actually sat on my lap sleeping in the church lobby during the service.

We went to Shelbyville to celebrate with family on Sunday.  We had lots of yummy food and the kids enjoyed the annual egg hunt.

Acting like the Easter Bunny. Love Sully's bunny ears.

More bunny ears.

Somebody had to test the eggs.

Early morning egg hunt.  So glad the bunny stopped here.

The bunny couldn't have possibly put eggs out there!!

Such a handsome dude!

She looks so sweet. yeah right.

Pretty in pink.

SPRING BREAK!!!!

We had a great Spring Break this year but it started out a little bumpy.  This year instead being in the 70s, like it has been for the past five years in a row, the weather took a big turn.  We were expecting a big snow storm to come through Sunday night so we decided to leave earlier on Sunday so that we wouldn't have to drive through the snow on Monday morning.  Boy was that a bad idea!  We ended up driving through Winter Storm Virgil all the way from Greenfield to Merriville where we stopped for the night. In all my years that had to be the worst driving conditions I have ever driven through.  Cars were off the highway everywhere and we barely made it over 30mph all the way there.  At one point we had a semi coming straight for us!  It was terrifying, but we made it safe and sound.

We started our Chicago vacation at the Field Museum.  We enjoyed going through most of the exhibits and had a little lunch while we were there.  I would love to go back sometime and see what we missed.  After the museum we headed out to our hotel and enjoyed Gino's East Pizza for dinner that night. Tuesday was our breakfast at American Girl Place.  We had so much fun.  While the girls were enjoying the breakfast and shopping the boys went to breakfast and took a walk to the lake.  We all met back up at Portillos for lunch.  I would be a happy girl if we could get a Portillos closer to home. We loved it.  After taking it easy that afternoon we had a delicious dinner at Ditka's Steakhouse.  I still dream of the crab cakes that I had that night for dinner.  On our last day we went to Shedd Aquarium.  We enjoyed that as well.  After the aquarium we headed home.  We ate at Portillos in Merriville for lunch and enjoyed our last Chicago dog of the trip.

I would have to say this trip was a success and can't wait to do again.
